Utah Arts Festival names awards for artists and writers, and race winners

Later today, the 11 awards of the Fear No Film portion of the festival will be announced including the Grand Jury prize, three honorable mentions, and the winning film in each of the categories.
DID YOU KNOW? Ruthie Foster and Deborah Coleman will highlight Women and Blues Night at the closing concert on the amphitheater stage today, beginning at 8:30 p.m.

Four artists received Best in Show honors, which means they will be automatically invited to the 2010 Utah Arts Festival and will have their booth fees waived. The winners are:

Four other artists were given Awards of Merit, which means they are automatically invited to the 2010 Utah Arts Festival without having to submit to the jury selection process. The artists are: Fred Conlon (Salt Lake City), metalwork; Marilyn and Chris Sunderland (Riverton, UT), 3-D mixed media; Lisa Telling-Kattenbraker (Olympia, WA), fiber, and King Wu (Bothell, WA), photography.
Winners in the Wasatch IronPen and Ultra IronPen competitions with the Salt Lake Community College’s Community Writing Center:

ADULT – Logan Campbell: “Tlaloc’s Sink of Souls” (fiction); “Wimpy Waterballooner” (nonfiction); “Learning to Sleep” (poetry).
YOUTH – Dixon Li: “Alice, Because of a Leaky Faucet” (fiction); “Sticky Water” (nonfiction); “Ode to Wasatch IronPen” (poetry).
